A coffee we've had the pleasure of roasting since 2019. San Jose is well balanced but sweet with notes of caramel and peanut brittle, lifted by a gentle orange acidity. The kind of coffee that rewards casual sipping and close attention!

BEHIND THE CUP

About

This coffee represents a very special relationship we have through Pergamino Coffee Exporters (who we work with for our beloved El Jardin (FKA La Palma). The short version of the story goes like this: There was a local organization handling the logistics and payment for this specific group of farmers, but there were some relational difficulties between the organization and the farmers that were proving problematic. After conversations with the producers, Pergamino audited the whole operation and found some serious issues that proved to be endemic to the organization. Pergamino decided to work more directly with one family in the area to help better organize the farmers and their coffees. The Pillimue family has started handling warehousing, sampling, lab work, meeting with producers, answering questions, and so much more, with Pergamino helping finance the lab. Now, the Pillumue family work exclusively with Pergamino to make sure this delicious coffee is exported efficiently and without a hitch.

We love working with Pedro and Leo from Pergamino because their first commitment is to the producer. They strive to make sure the farmers are taken care of, paid efficiently, and that transparency is present throughout the entire supply chain.

We've been offering San Jose since 2019, and we can’t wait to hear what you think about this year's harvest!
