This year’s Mwika North is vibrant, layered, and deeply expressive:

Black Raspberry – a rich, juicy sweetness that’s both bold and elegant, like a perfectly ripe berry on a summer morning. Toasted Coconut – smooth and gently nutty, adding roundness and a subtle warmth that lingers with each sip. Blood Orange – bright citrus with a hint of tartness, giving the cup a crisp, clean finish and a refreshing pop of acidity.

BEHIND THE CUP

About

Each year, we look forward to welcoming back Tanzania Mwika North — and this fresh crop is something special. Not just because of the flavor (though we’ll get to that), but because of the partnership and progress behind the cup.

A few years ago, we partnered with Crop to Cup and Taylor Winch Tanzania on a Community Giveback Project to help Mwika North bring their local washing station back to life. It had been built over 15 years ago, but never fully functional until 2020.

Another massive update to the coffee processing operation at Mwika North is price paid for cherry, vs pre-pulped coffee.

Since November of 2024, farmers have been able to deliver their coffee to the central processing station in cherry, rather than going through the time and labor of pulping it themselves. That shift does more than simplify their work — it puts more money in their pockets. Farmers are now paid more for fresh-picked cherry than they were for already-pulped beans. This means that they can spend more time and resources on farming and picking, and the folks at the washing station can control the quality of the coffee going into your cup. It's a win win win!
